4. Mise-en-scene recreation

Costumes
The first character who hands over the paper is wearing a suit so I had one of my actors in a suit.

Lighting
The clip has high key natural light so I filmed the scene outside to recreate this.

Actors expressions
Throughout the scene the characters display feelings of confusion, excitement and shock. I believe my actors were able to accurately display these feelings through the use of facial expressions and tones.

Makeup
The characters had blood on their face and to recreate this I used fake blood which created a similar look to the characters in the movie

Props
In the movie the main prop is the document which is handed to the characters for which I used a sheet of paper and a pen.

The script:

Man in suit
 Sign here.

Hands over paper.

Michael
Wait...Hold on a second. You guys got my license back?

Sonia
You just signed the adoption papers.

Darius
The what?

Michael
The adoption papers?

Sonia
You are now our son.

Both stand.

Darius + Michael
Wait what the fuck!?

The shot list:

  1. Over the shoulder shot of character handing over documents
  2. Close up of character speaking
  3. Camera returns to over shoulder shot
  4. Zoomed in on character in centre
  5. Zoomed in on confused character
  6. Character centre
  7. character centre
  8. Camera zooms in on character
  9. Freeze frame

In my recreation of the scene from the movie 'The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard' I tried to accurately recreate the scene by using similar camera shots and making my actor look similar to the ones in the actual clip. I gave my actors fake blood to make them look as close to the real thing as possible and guided them as to how to act in a similar way to the real actors. I used natural lighting just as they did in the film. I also managed to extract the background music from the original clip and add it to mine which made it seem more like the actual clip.
