9. Sound video feedback and learner response

 Teacher feedback:

WWW: Exactly one minute

The quick fade between images = good edit

             Strobe edit to contrapuntal

Good editing at start/end fades to black and sound fades in/out

EBI: Some shots on screen too long

Class feedback:

WWW: Good editing

            Matches brief

            Sound well chosen

            Sound matches parallel

            Transition between Parallel and Contrapuntal

EBI: Faster pace (some photos stayed up for too long)

Self reflection:

WWW:  I believe that my choice of theme worked well and the parallel aspect matched the sound well. I also believe that my editing at the start and the end was good as I made the sound fade in/out which made it less choppy by getting rid of the abrupt ending that would've been there if I hadn't added that. I also liked how I used the edit in between the contrapuntal and parallel as I feel it made it clearer to the audience where the switch was.

EBI: I agree with the majority of feedback which suggested I should've used a faster pace as it didn't go as smoothly with the song as it could've done, the photos were on the screen for varied lengths rather than all being equal which could be due to extending the clips as a group rather than individually which is something I should fix for next time.

Learner Response:

I believe that the top 3 videos were 1) Olivia's 2) Dyari's  3) Laiyla's.

My favourite video was Olivia's as she demonstrated a good use of contrapuntal and parallel sound and her video also matched the pace of the song which showed attention to detail. She also used an introduction which was quite unique as nobody else did it and I think it worked well with it matching the beat and letting the audience know what it is that the videos about.

Using their work as an example, I could've improved my work by improving the pace of my video and making it match better with the pace of the sound as they  did very well in theirs.

Importance of sound

From this task I've learnt that sound is important in media as it can completely change the way the audience receives the text and what meaning they take from it, the sound can turn an innocent simple scene into a dark and tension filled scene simply by changing the non diegetic sound.
